Overnight Camp at Santa Monica

On 15 January 2009, grade 6 went with grade 5 to Santa Monica for an overnight camp. When we got there, it was raining a little, we drank tea to warm our bodies. Then we got settled in the rooms. I had my room with Jessica, Yuri and Dinda! We made a small video before doing the activities. The first activity is we were divided into groups and played small games. My group was with Yuri, Keyzar, Kenneth, Pamela, Gianti, Barron, Andrew K, Ryan and Maldini. The second activity was being led through paths blindfolded, the one who guided us was Maldini. After that, we had snack. Then we went to play outdoor games that were Crappling, Flying Fox and Monkey Bridge. I went second last on crappling. We went down a small cliff, the ground was slippery. Then we played flying fox. We need to go up the tree so we used a bamboo ladder. It was very high and scary. We went down quickly. Pamela always went first, she was the bravest. Then we went to play monkey bridge. We walked on a rope, holding on to the rope hung from above. It was hard because we kept on shaking. After that, we had lunch and prepared for the performance for the campfire that night. Then we had free time, we stayed in our rooms and relax. That night, we had a Night Safari. We went through the fields and the village. We used a torch, but on the way the fired died. We went up to the camp fire site. Some teams performed. My team went on first and performed a funny magic show. Then Keyzar did a little lipsync. Da Moos went next, Da Moos were Beverly, Dinda, Charisma, Sammy, Carolina, Nathan, Jonathan, Kelvin and Haris. They did a small drama then sang "Main Hati". Dinda played the guitar. After Da Moos performed, the Jackets went next. The Jackets were Jessica, David, Bowen, Andrew and the rest. They performed a song called "Laskar Jaket" which they made by editing a song from Nidji called "Laskar Pelangi". Then we had the camp fire. We all stood in a circle and held hands. I was standing next to David and Della. We did a funny dance too. Sammy and Carolina lit up the camp fire. We went to bed.

The next day, we woke up and did some morning exercises. Then we had breakfast and got ready. But we still haven't taken a bath. We went up a mountain (tracking), it was raining. Then we got back and played a few games. We played against team, the game was to get the ball out by pouring water into a pipe with holes on it. The Jackets won! Yay! Congratz! Then we had a whole team challenge. We needed to get fire on a candle to a torch in another place. Once we almost succeeded but the fire died. We kept on getting attacked by water balloons. Then we made it. We had fun! We also got wet because of the rain and all the water.
We got back to our rooms, got cleaned up, had a little snack then left.
